Hi Jake, thanks for answering some questions for FeelTheTip

Could you tell us about your background/upbringing and how you got into Boxing?

I started boxing at age 7 when my dad took my older brother to the gym and I tagged along and just loved it since.

Was there a defining moment growing up when you knew you were going to be a professional Boxer?

Once I got selected for Team GB I knew then that this is was the career I wanted to do.

Who were the Boxers you looked up to growing up?

The 2 boxers I always looked up to was Muhammed Ali & Sugar Ray Leonard.

What is a typical day for Jake Ball?

Get woken up early by one of my boys in the morning lol, breakfast, head off to the Club KO Gym in Loughton & either spar, pads, bag etc…Come home refuel then hit the road for either a long run or sprints and depending on training routine will train again later in the day.

You are currently signed to Matchroom Sport. What were the main reasons for signing with Eddie Hearn & Matchroom?

Well Matchroom Sports are the best boxing promoters in Britain and one of the best in the world in my opinion. And with such a massive platform such as Sky Sports it’s great to get my name out there.

Very few of us will ever experience the feeling of waiting backstage to get into a ring and fight another man. How does it feel waiting backstage before walking out?

It feels great, of course there’s a few nerves but it’s all positive, there’s no better feeling than knowing you’re about to go out to the ring and showcase your skill & talent after all the weeks of hard work & graft I have put in, it’s amazing.

What exactly is running through your mind at that point?

Just to stay calm and enjoy it.

Have you got your next fight lined up?

All I know at the moment is it will be in June.

What is the best advice you have received?

Hit and don’t get hit.

What advice would you give to a kid looking to get into boxing?

Train hard, listen and never let anyone tell you that you can’t do it because if you dedicate yourself and always push yourself to the limit anything is possible.

There are thousands of Boxers around the world all with aspirations to be the very best in the world. What will make you different and be the 1% to go to the very top?

Not only my talent & skill my my drive and will to be the best and I know I won’t stop until I reach my goal .

What are your favourite things to do outside of boxing?

Spend time with my wife & kids, playing football & golf, and chilling with mates.

If you could swap job roles with Eddie Hearn for a day & could make any fight in the world, what would it be & why?

Give me a World title fight ASAP lol.

And who would you arrange for Eddie Hearn to fight?

Probably Kugan Cassius and I would film it!

If you could describe yourself in one sentence, what would it be?

A husband, father and future World Champion.

At just 23 you have an exciting future ahead. Where will you be in 5 years time?

In 5 years time a World Champion for sure.
