Fulham vs Bolton
22nd plays 23rd in Wednesday’s 8pm Championship game. Two teams desperate to halt their run of bad results and climb out of the relegation zone.
Fulham are coming into this match favourites 19/20 and on the back of 2 good results, a 2-1 away win at Birmingham and Capital One Cup home win against Doncaster. Many are expecting Fulham to push on from here and get all 3 points tonight against a struggling Bolton side. It’s clear that Fulham are weak at the back, conceding at least 1 goal in every game they’ve played this season. With their frontline, one would expect them to be challenging for the playoff positions, however something hasn’t clicked as yet.
Bolton’s away form this season has been pitiful, losing all 4 and managing just 1 goal. Tonight’s match should be a great chance for them to add to their goal tally for the season against a weak Fulham defence. A fit Jermaine Beckford along with Joe Mason could cause the Fulham backline problems.
If the Fulham attack of Ruiz, McCormack and Rodallega click, then we could see Fulham easily grab all 3 points tonight, and climb up the league rapidly. However their defence is leaky, and I think even a struggling Bolton side will manage to find the back of the net, even if they do end up losing.
Prediction – Fulham 2-1 Bolton
The Pick – Both teams to score – 4/5 – 1.80
Wolves vs Huddersfield
Championship strugglers head to Molyneux looking for a much needed 3 points after their recent 2-1 victory over Millwall.
Wolves’ form coming into tonight’s match will worry Chris Powell and his Huddersfield team. Their 3-3 thriller at Reading will have left a sour taste in their mouths, scoring 2 minutes before the final whistle, before Reading snatched a point at the death. This will have made them eager to get back on form with a win in front of their home crowd. Wolves have won all 4 of their league games at home this year, 3 by a single 1-0 victory.
Huddersfield, in contrast, have won just 1 out of 4 away league games, conceding at least one in every game, amounting to a worrying 11 goals. They are sitting in 21st currently, and face their toughest away game yet. I don’t give Huddersfield much of a chance against a Wolves team that, with victory, can go to top of the table.
Wolves have overcome much tougher opposition at home this season, and I expect them to cruise to victory again tonight.
Prediction – Wolves 2-0 Huddersfield
The Pick – Wolves to win – 8/11 – 1.73
